Menopause Behavioral Health Physician & Practitioner Certificate
A self-paced online certificate course that prepares prescribing clinicians to adequately and efficiently screen for mood and anxiety disorders, decide when to refer out, and prescribe safely across the menopause transition.
About 6,000 women in the US reach menopause every day, and roughly 1 in 3 will experience depression during the transition.
Most of them will look for help from an OB/GYN or primary care clinician, and the MBH-PC prepares those clinicians to screen, treat and refer them.
- OB/GYN physicians and residents
- Primary care physicians, internists and family medicine clinicians
- Psychiatrists
- Nurse practitioners and certified nurse-midwives with prescribing scope
- Pharmacists
- Any prescribing clinician who works with women in the menopause transition
Learn what to do when a patient screens positive.
Depression is the presentation clinicians hear about most, but anxiety, bipolar disorder and other mood disorders show up during this transition too. The MBH-PC teaches you to know how to best support your patients.
You will learn how effective screening can take place in one short protocol. You'll know which questions to ask, what the answers mean, and what to do next: manage it yourself, co-manage with behavioral health, or refer out.

How You'll Make an Impact
Use the visit you already have
The well-woman exam is often the only routine appointment a midlife patient keeps, which makes it the best chance to identify a mood disorder early. This certificate shows you how to screen within that visit and act on what you find.
Prescribe with more confidence
Choosing between an antidepressant, hormone therapy or both is easier with a framework built on symptom severity and patient history. You will leave with a framework you can cite in your documentation.
Lead the care team
Integrated behavioral health works best when the prescribing clinician leads it. The MBH-PC prepares you to coordinate treatment and referral whether your behavioral health partners work in your practice or at an outside referral site.
Use these screening guidelines with your next perimenopausal or menopausal patient.
Our clinical white paper turns the latest evidence on menopause and mood into guidelines you can use during a standard appointment. It covers the same framework the MBH-PC teaches, so it is also a good way to see whether the full certificate fits your practice.
- Which validated screening tools to use, and when to step up from a brief screen to a full one
- A severity continuum for depressive symptoms, from subclinical to a major depressive episode
- 6 clinical principles for deciding when to treat in-house and when to refer
Enrolling your practice?
When every prescriber in a practice follows the same screening workflow and safety protocol, patients receive the same screening and care from every clinician in the practice. We offer group rates for practices and health systems based on the number of clinicians you enroll, and current FamilyWell partners can add the MBH‑PC to their existing partnership.

What is the MBH-PC?
The Menopause Behavioral Health Physician & Practitioner Certificate is a self-paced online course that teaches prescribing clinicians to screen for and manage mood disorders across perimenopause and menopause. It builds on FamilyWell's free clinical white paper on screening, diagnosis and treatment.
Who should take this course?
The MBH-PC is designed for OB/GYN physicians and residents, primary care physicians, internists and family medicine clinicians, psychiatrists, NPs and CNMs with prescribing scope, dietitian nutritionists and pharmacists. Any prescribing clinician who works with women in the menopause transition is welcome to enroll.
What's covered in the curriculum?
Six modules covering screening, mood and anxiety disorders, treatment selection, hormone therapy and safety protocol. Learn more and get the full curriculum.
How is this different from the MBH-C?
The MBH-C trains health coaches, therapists and other behavioral health providers to support people through menopause, and it includes live mentorship sessions. The MBH-PC is shorter and written for prescribers, so it focuses on diagnosis, medication and hormone therapy decisions, and safety protocols.
How long does it take to complete?
Most clinicians finish in about 4 hours, including the CME self-assessment. The course is self-paced, so you can complete it in one sitting or across several weeks.
Will I earn CME/CE credit?
The MBH-PC is offered in partnership with Innovation Horizons, a Jointly Accredited Provider of interprofessional continuing education. Credit types and hours will be listed here at launch.
Can I enroll my whole practice?
Yes. We offer group enrollment for practices and health systems, and you can tell us about your team here to get pricing.
When does enrollment open?
Enrollment opens Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Waitlist members get the enrollment link first.
