Background: 

FamilyWell is the first digital health company in the U.S. to provide tech-enabled perinatal behavioral health services through an evidence-based collaborative care model (CoCM). The collaborative care model has been validated in over 90 randomized controlled trials and adopted by Medicaid and many commercial plans across the country. The CoCM model allows medical providers to bill insurance companies for perinatal behavioral health care services. FamilyWell partners with OB/GYN clinicians to provide mental health prevention, detection, and treatment for pregnant and postpartum patients, with a strong focus in the Medicaid population.

Lead Therapist Role:

  • Location: Remote

  • Department: Clinical Operations

  • Reports to: VP Clinical Operations

  • Job Type: Part-time (20 hours/week), W2 employee with benefits

  • Salary Range: $60-70,000

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Development & Strategic Planning

  • Define and steer the programmatic direction for perinatal therapy support, aligning with FamilyWell’s mission and goals.

  • Create, plan, and execute strategies to avoid provider burnout, promoting therapist well-being and sustainability.

  • Develop and implement policies to enhance therapy support services, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of patients and providers.

  • Work directly with billing and credentialing teams to optimize workflows and procedures, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in administrative processes.

Team Management & Supervision

  • Manage and lead a growing team of therapists, overseeing both clinical and operational aspects.

  • Provide direct clinical supervision and facilitate peer-to-peer reflection to support therapist development and quality of care.

  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture, ensuring open communication and continuous professional growth.

Patient Care & Support

  • Provide individual tele-therapy to patients requesting regular sessions using FamilyWell’s virtual platform.

  • Document patient progress comprehensively, sharing treatment recommendations with medical providers, psychiatric consultants, and other treating professionals as needed.

  • Facilitate treatment plan modifications for patients needing more intensive or specialized mental health care, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.

  • Develop and deliver Care Plans post-session, offering patients actionable insights and follow-up steps.

  • Conduct one-on-one psychological intakes for referred FamilyWell program patients, gathering comprehensive assessments to inform treatment planning.

  • Create and complete relapse prevention self-management plans for patients nearing discharge, ensuring a structured approach to maintaining their mental health gains.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure required:

    • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or equivalent, holding an active license in the state of Massachusetts.

  • Experience:

    • Formal perinatal mental health training or a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience working with pregnant and/or postpartum patients.

  • Preferred Certification:

    • Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International is recommended but not required.

  • Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities, with experience in managing clinical and operational responsibilities effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

  • Proficiency with tele-therapy platforms and virtual care delivery.
